MY CHICKENS ARE PLUCKING THEMSELVES TO DEATH

Pics
A breeder I got phoenixes from used to feed anchovies to her males a few weeks before shows. I imagine even for hens the protein and fish oil would help them, but it will make the eggs taste funny sometimes

The sentinel coop is quit small and doesn’t look solid. The roost is not okay (sharp edges + small). 1 nestbox is enough. I would rather try to pick up some second hand materials an enlarge the coop you have now.
Another idea is to buy a (second hand) wooden playhouse for kids and make a roost in it. With some hard ware cloth and a litter box for cats you can transform this easily into a hen house.

Are you sure its not lice or molt?
Or a combination of both? Or that the saddle decks are itchy on molting hens?

Personally I think the food is not the main issue if they get normal feed for chickens and can free range too.

Hi,

I got some good news that my dad will help me fund a new coop! Do you have any recommendations preferably under $250? I don't really want to have to build it but there are a lot online. I was looking at this one

What do you think?

Cute but bad design.

I sent the wrong link but it's on that page it's the
PawHut 59" Solid Wood Enclosed Outdoor Backyard Chicken Coop Kit with Nesting Box - Grey

the far right option

Is ok but is still tiny.

Maybe this one? I read some of the reviews it looks like it'd be big enough.

This is the best of the 3 BUT those latches are not secure against raccoons. You are in town so big predators are not an issue. Raccoons however are in town. Just be aware and perhaps add a second type of latch.

I wish I could just pop up there and build you a coop.
