My chickens wanna molt...why isn't my yard the scene of a pillow fight

I have 4 chickens who are 1.5 years this fall
3 white Leghorn hens and a RIR roo
the girls look SCRUFFY!!!
Between their feathers' age, the roo damage, and the past wing clippings.....and they never really get back to white anymore either. Last spring even when it rained for a month they still managed to preen themselves back to white at night, but they seem so dingy now!

I wish my chicken yard would look like a pillow exploded!!!

I guess in his defense I usually let the feed sacks pile up for a few weeks before I haul them to the trash barrel at the other end of the property, so I shouldn't complain too much.
