my chicks from cackle are here

I had mine delivered Wednesday and Im down 6- :-( I called and they told me to get Sulmet to put in their water for stress. I did and we'll see how the rest do...It still looks like Ill lose a few more though so Ill cal them on Monday with the final count:-( It's hot out so I didn't expect a perfect delivery but I hoped--good luck on your babies.

That stinks for everyone who lost some chicks I ordered from cackle in Feb. All barred rocks and buff orphingtons luckily for me I had no deaths sorry to hear it

i am assuming that the loss of chicks is from stress and the fact that when i picked them up they were in the air conditioned post office... and right under the airconditioner no doubt UGH one of the silkies is looking icky now.. the others are picking on it pretty bad so i removed that one to a smaller area.. hopefully i dont loose any more!

Wow ~ Mojo I can't believe that Cackle actually told you "it's just you" ~ what kind of business practice is that? They should have immediately offered a refund or replacements!!

They were the same company that shipped someone's (LA~Poulet; hope I got the name right) chicks on Wednesday before the 4th of July weekend by Priority Mail...she was told they were shipped "2 day". They arrived the following Tuesday, all dead. Horrible story!!

I keep reading not-so-good things about this company...and I suppose it's normal to lose a couple here & there, but it seems to me that a lot of chicks shipped from there don't make it or are very weak when they arrive. I also don't like some of the things I'm reading about Cackle's customer service.

I'm sure that there are lots of happy Cackle chickie moms & dads out there, but I've decided that this is one company I will not order from.

shadowpaints ~ I'm so sorry about the loss of your babies, and hope that the rest regain their strength!!

Of all of the hatcheries I've dealt with (Ideal, Reichs, Mt. Healthy, Cackle, might be another in there somewhere...) Cackle is the ONLY hatchery where I've lost so many chicks. Many of those hatcheries I lose NO chicks, and I assume that I will lose one or two to stress from shipping. Matter of fact, Reichs has sent me two shipments of 110 chicks each (once in spring, when cooler, once is July when very hot) and I lost one chick out of all of them - the July shipment I had one loss the day after arrival.

I might understand it if I were a newb at brooding chicks, or if I had gotten hysterical with them when I emailed - I was very polite and simply wanted to let them know they might have a problem with some of their stock. They blew me off.

u or replace ur loss, squeaky wheel gets the oil

tell them u want replacement chx or refund..
if you have lost a great number
.usually companys want to please their customers.

I got the exact same impression when I told them that whoever I spoke to on the phone with my concerns about shipping on the Wed. before the 4th of July told me that my chicks were being sent out "2 Day and would definitely arrive on time, no worries". The response was that I must have misunderstood, "their representatives know how shipping works, of course" I felt like they were talking to me as if I was ignorant, when I have a very good understanding of how USPS delivery schedules work b/c I have an online business and 99% of my products ship that way. She also assured me that Priority always arrives in 2 days, and it is 'very rare' for it to take 3 days, and not longer. I ship Priority all the time and know that just isn't the case.

Naw, I just chalk it up to a lesson learned. Costly, but at least I won't make the same mistake again.

They have already refused to admit it is their fault (or rather, the fault of their hatching egg suppliers having weak breeding stock), so I'm done with them.

All they had to do was be polite and say "We're sorry, we'll look into it" and I would have let it drop.

Now that they have treated me like I am an idiot and can not possibly recognize bad stock when I see it, I will let everyone know what service and what quality I got from them.

They can keep the money I sent them - I'll just do my best to make sure they don't get someone else's hard earned money for poor quality chicks.
