The freezer idea is good if you have a big chest or upright additional freezer. If the ground is frozen you can keep sugar outside until the thaw. If your keeping her outside maybe put her in a bin or a tin garbage can(we use these to store feed and seeds). I agree with you on burying her vs throwing her away. We bury all our pets in the backyard right down to the hamsters. My husband and I will have a little funeral for our pets, it's easier on the kids and to say goodbye. We find a big rock and place it over the animal. Although every time I see the rocks I do get a bit sad, especially my cat. I miss him even though he's been gone for 6 years.
