ok then. Well, I am not sure if you have one, but it would be very helpful to get a heart rate monitor if you can afford one.
If you can, get the kind that tells you how many calories you have and are burning. Very helpful when you can actually see how many calories you have lost doing that aerobic exercise. Then you can pick up the pace if you want to.
It helps to set a goal. "I will burn 400 calories before I stop" ect.
there is also something called the Bodybug" I have heard good things about it. You can Google it.
A few fun ways to lose those calories are dancing (which you can do for a minute or an hour or during commercials.
Road biking, mountain biking lots of fun. In an hour I can burn over 800 calories and it doesn't feel like much effort, just fun. Wear a helmet.
Interval training is great. Especially for beginners. A easy way to do this is just push yourself as long as you are comfortable for and then slow down enough to catch your breath and get ready to push again. That is also why a heart rate monitor is great. You can make sure you are not doing too hard, too fast.
Just push, and when you are tired slow down. Keep that up during your aerobic exercise. Keep pushing and slowing down.
Not only will you build up your indurance, but you burn alot of calories. And it is pretty easy when you can breath again to throw in even short bursts of high level input, even if it is only for 10=20 seconds. It will get longer and longer the fitter you get.
There are lots of great exercises out there. Swimming, walking doing hard yard work.
A good idea is to make sure you keep yourself limber. Gently stretch those muscles before and after you exercise.
And for after you exercise, you need to get some protein and carbs in (especially carbs if you are trying to waste the muscle) but if you can eat or drink something within 45 minutes of stopping then your muscles will be able to use the carbs to put glycogen back into your muscles.
This makes your workout much easier for the next one. Your muscles are not so fatigued. Believe me, this really helps if you work out everyday.
It can be a glass of juice, fruit, any quick acting carb. They make special drinks just for that for endurance athletes.
I love my heart rate monitor. It keeps me on track. It makes eating that cookie difficult when you realize that it just took you 20 minutes of hard exercise to burn off the calories that the cookie will put back in with 4 bites!
Good luck
