This is a pretty good idea. Also I'd add to keep I.D. tags on your dogs ALL the time. If you don't have tags then a sharpie marker on their collar. Your dogs didn't have any collars on in your pics. Maybe someone would call you if found; at least there would be hope. Microchipping is good if they end up in a pound, the pound will scan them and call you. It is about 30$ to do it at a shelter and sometimes they have special deals on vaccination days.
Your dogs all look so sweet in theur pictures.
Use to have collars and tags on them, Replaced them twice on my dalmation, 3 times on my cur and was going to replace it on my lab. And I didnt have the collars loose either.

Proper fitting and size collars, dont just come off, that would mean someoe remove them.......

This seems likely. I know a cur dog will fight fiercely and never back down, so I don't see them being preyed upon easily. Gator might get one though, dogs are pretty helpless in the water.
I also agree about the neighbors thing. Dogs causing trouble get shot.

This.
My grandpa had two Mountain Cur dogs that kept their same collars on, from the time they reached full size until they died. Same for my grandma's Ridgeback.
My dog's collar will go over her head buckled, but she STILL has never lost it in the past 2 years.
People are always getting free dogs and "flipping" them by selling them on Craigslist as a "rescue" so somebody could be stealing them to re-sell.
If you'd like to keep your two remaining (and it sounds like you are giving up the adult female to keep a puppy) or at least value the life of your canine's (pics show very well fed dogs, nice looking dogs) put them in the house with you and only let them out on a leash that is attached to your hand, long enough to do their bathroom duty outside and then back inside with you until you buy a chain link fence (they sell in panels, too) that you can easily put them in from your front door, long enough to go to the bathroom and then inside with you. Otherwise, plan on the last two disappearing, too, and any other dogs or pups you might bring home. You are the caretaker and they are dependant on you. Its mind boggling that three of your dogs have gone missing and you haven't put a collar and leash on them, kept them in eyesight, 24/7.
My hunting dogs live in the house and sleep on my bed: four weimaraners, an Aussie Cattle Dog & a wolf hybrid. I'm also the caretaker of my third and fifth (adult) kid's 2 golden retrievers who have the same living arrangements as mine do. I am so sorry your dogs are disappearing but you have got to do something immediately to remedy this situation Very Sad!
Leave some chicken (store bought) next to you pond and see if it disappears. Even better to set up a game camera and see if any gators are in your pond.
Isn't it easy to "shine" for gator at night with a spot light?
I wont say that any of what everyone has said isnt true, But I will say my dogs have never caused trouble to anyones land before I dont see why they would have now, The most they've ever done is go over to the sod field once or twice a long time ago thats a few fields away, which was caused by our neighbors free roaming dog who DID cause trouble, but we broke them of that and they havnt went back since along with the fact they dont have their buddy next door to lead them off. besides that theres nothing around cept a orange grove 2 miles away in the opisite direction they've ever went or tried to go, and a empty cowfield thats not even used. I cant bring my dogs inside. My grandma wont allow it. My dogs are not aggressive to any people or any animals. Sheesh the cur is a hunting dog from what im told and she couldnt even catch a rabbit if it sat under her nose, Never tried to either because I tried teaching her to catch armidillows(sp?) and Coons, that was a huge fail same with my other dogs. and like said theres no one around for them to annoy, and no their not annoying my neighbor because their dogs are always over here playing with mine, or was, yes they did go over them some but neer caused any trouble or id know about it (Uncle married to neighbor, Brother dating neighbors daughter
) the dog who started the roaming a long time ago we sure was gotten by coyotes, Maybe its possible their back or something else is killing them. Gator is possible to but their not known to go swimming, i've only seen em in our pond maybe 2-3 times within a matter of a year or longer
Chaining. I will try and make a spot to do the clothes line idea after mama is rehomed for the pup. its just sickining because for the 20 years my familys been here (16 for me) we've never had to do it to any of our dogs. our oldest was 14 died a year ago from old age.
and No I am not trying to make any excuses for my dogs are pretend they were/are perfect. Im just saying its never happened before for the years i've had them
