My dogs,Flock, and I almost died

That is a unfortunate situation. I doubt he was interested in you or your horse as a potential meal... You read the body language as attack mode, how did you know? In what way did he show aggression? I am not trying to be rude btw, I am asking a question.

Close to something happened to me with the fox that hangs around the place. Looked out the window and saw my birds running across our lane and the dog barking, guineas hollering.
Went out behind coop and he was running off with Vicki, an easter egger. I wás so mad that he was taking another of my hens I ran after him across the hay fields and through the woods till he dropped her. Luckily, tho it was an attack, she wasn't hurt more than some puncture wounds which I can handle and of course in shock.

I will post a thread about shock and the my tried and true treatment later.
He came at me with teeth bared and tail up. He ignored my aggressive stance, foot stomp, and warning snap of the whip, and he still came at me. Coyotes around here don't usually act like that. They normally take one look at me and move along-they are usually more interested in my dog.

Look at the entire system and see what's going on above and below, before you make any judgements on about what needs to happen in nature's role.

Animals of habit, following the same patterns in the limited space we left them, year after year and only trying to make a permanent life in the only home they've ever known.

That coyote is only taking what he can eat, unlike most people do. Take things calm, and reason with a level head. It's not just you out there.
i don't know where you get the idea they only take what they can eat lol. they will kill and take down calves and only eat a little or just some guts then leave it to kill another animal.

be very careful, i would worry that is a sick one and a risk to any one.

if a coyote did that to me I would give the good old buck shot, (no different if a bear went after my bees)

He was trapped and delivered to the game warden. Never heard any update-around here the state does not test unless the animal bites someone.

Everything we read about coyotes in my area says to try not to kill them, as a pack type animal they are also territorial . If you kill the Alfa of a pack a new/neighboring pack will move into the area.
We got donkeys, since we have the property to do that, and have not had a coyote around since, though donks have killed 2 bobcats and a couple snakes. They haven’t killed the armadillo though, but fingers crossed.

well said.....kudos

Yessss!!!! Just get rid of it!!! I don't feel bad if I have to take care of a Coyote. They are more trouble then they are worth.
Stupid coyotes!!! 😡
Huh. I strongly disagree.
That's like saying that some people are more trouble than they are worth.
Coyotes are part of the ecosystem, you remember that. Sport killing is wrong, look what happened to the passenger pigeon for the love of Pete.
