Just a little back story and information ..
I have about 20 chickens - five of them being 10 month old RSL (all pullets).
I have a 15 week old German Shepherd puppy, 2.5 year old pitbull terrier and 8 year old bischon mix.
We currently moved from RI to CT and have all of the chickens in a new coop/run. My 5 oldest pullets (RSL) jump out of the run a lot to free range the yard which I’ve let happen. It’s what they are used to. My two oldest dogs have never really paid any mind when it came to the chickens and have zero incidents up to this point. My GS puppy spends a lot of time obsessing over the chickens and cornering/grabbing them when she can. My dogs have 2 of our 9 acres of electric fence and the goats have about 3 acres behind that. The chickens have the 2 acres the dogs do and can get into the 3 acres that the goats are in if they want to. The chickens coop is currently in the 2 acres that are for the dogs but we are in the process of making changes for everyone’s sake. Any time the dogs are let out I make sure to get the girls back in their run if they have gotten out to avoid any disasters. Yesterday when I was running errands the dogs were locked on our deck (we have an open/sunny side and an enclosed/shaded side - VERY large deck) and they SOMEHOW managed to get off the deck and into the yard (I still don’t know how). When I got back home all of my chickens were accounted for except for my very bossy and “mean” RSL. I I couldn’t find her anywhere until sun down when she made her way back to the coop. I knew the dogs had gotten to her but I had no idea what to expect. She has some feathers missing on her belly and a NASTY open wound on her back. It is not excessively bleeding but I can see a chunk of skin that they most def bit out of her. I put her into the coop (STUPID ME) while I ran and grabbed a crate for her and in a matter of seconds our Asian black cockerel targeted her. She has NEVER allowed him to mate with her nor does she ever really allow any mating at all. It breaks my heart. She is eating and drinking just fine and has no other injuries otherwise. She is walking, has great color and no bleeding to this point.

I am happy to provide pictures later when I get home (this all happened so fast and late last night and didn’t get to take any then or this am).

What is the best way to treat her to prevent infection and make this as fast and painless as possible for her?

Asshole dogs.....

Firt thing I would do is give her some aspirin, it's 25mg (1/4 a tablet) per lbs of the chicken. You should also get her some disinfectant, like bluekote, and keep her separated till she heals

I have a chicken where something similar happened, she was attacked by something(we don't know what) and it ripped her back completely open. After separating her from the coop, we put some blukote on her and wrapped her up with gauze, after a week, it was already healing, that was 2 months ago and she is completely healed!

Thank you so much. I did plan on getting blukote but I wasn’t sure to wrap it? Use anything else? Wrap it with what? Keep her isolated for how long? Pain meds etc. you answered a lot of questions for me. I absolutely will post a picture when I get home. I’ll need my husband to help as I get a little timid when it comes to nasty injuries (whether it be my kids or animals it takes a lot for me - but Ill still do it!).

Also, she was greasy/wet and VERY dirty. Should I give her a good bath? I literally don’t even have the slightest idea where they brought her. She from her head to toe was covered in thick dirt and felt greasy/damp. It’s the only way I know how to describe it
