So soak and then remove everything and then probably wrap it after to heal? What about iodine? I'm sure he's gonna bleed a lot.. will he Be okay to remove all that.. makes me nervous and sad doing all that. But if Its gonna help.. And ONLY soak for bubbles? Or idoine and bandage too.

Yes, soak and remove what you can... if you don't get it all this time, don't force if it is too hard... you may need to remove more tomorrow... sometimes it all can be removed in one sitting, sometimes it is a few days of removing chunks...

Yes, it is uncomfortable and will hurt, but they compartmentalize pain better than we do, and he can only get relief from pain once the healing starts... the infection is already causing constant pain, think of that part, ok?

Apply iodione after removing infection too, and on her feet as well... you can also pack the holes with Neosporin after infection is removed... and I would definitely wrap his feet afterwards, you want them to stay as clean as possible...

Hang in there, you can do this! :hugs

But of him walking before or after?
I wanna see a video of him now.

If you decide to do the surgery, I strongly suggest that you go to Petsmart or Petco and get some stypic powder in case he starts to bleed profusely.

You will also need to wrap his feet if you start picking away at the infection.

Wrapping correctly means you will need no stick pads for the bottom of his feet, gauze to hold the pad on and for padding, and something like vetwrap.

Do you have any betadine or preferably chlorhexadine? I'm guessing you're in FFA or 4H? If so, please consult with some of the more experienced leaders, or experienced horse people.

Are you close to UC Davis?
