My drakes foot is ALWAYS bleeding??!

Pics
I wanna see a video of him now.

If you decide to do the surgery, I strongly suggest that you go to Petsmart or Petco and get some stypic powder in case he starts to bleed profusely.

You will also need to wrap his feet if you start picking away at the infection.

Wrapping correctly means you will need no stick pads for the bottom of his feet, gauze to hold the pad on and for padding, and something like vetwrap.

Do you have any betadine or preferably chlorhexadine? I'm guessing you're in FFA or 4H? If so, please consult with some of the more experienced leaders, or experienced horse people.

Are you close to UC Davis?

Great advice!!

I will be updating during process while boyfriend is removing it all. And pics to see ignore I did it right I'll be there in two hours with him so be on :) :(

Please listen to Kathy, above...

I will record a video before I do the surgery. But right after we are performing it during animal handling class today my boyfriend and I. So the walking video won't be posted until the surgery is already happening I will post it while my boyfriend is working on him. I'm unable to go to petsmart I am in school. And doing this at my Ag farm during my last class period. And no I don't have any of that other stuff. I just have a scalpel, iodine, and the stuff to wrap up his feet and some antibiotic cream, and gloves. Nothing else. I will ask my animal handling teacher about Betadine or chlorhexadine. What is that for? And I'm not no. We are doing This on our own with whatever supplies we have and hopefully my Ag teacher will have some of that other stuff.

You're doing great... doing what you can with what you have... ask her about styptic powder as well, just in case of excessive bleeding... or cornstarch, even... maybe Home Economics class might have some cornstarch?

Betadine is an anti bacterial cleaning agent similar but not as strong as iodine. Cornstarch can be used as a blood stop but is not as effective.

I feel like you have been vey stressed out with all of this. I understand i just want to make sue you take a breath. You are doing a great job. Don't over think the steps you have them down a lot better then you realize. If today gets to be too much for up or your boyfriend don't be afraid to stop for today and try again tomorrow
