My duck has a hole in its foot

Sounds like bumble. I had this experience not too long ago. My girls foot ended up swelling huge & had to be lanced. However... I only cut a small hole, cleaned it well, put A&D on there, & wrapped it in Vet Wrap. I would clean it & rewrap it every 2 days & after about 6 days the puss worked itself to the top & I pulled it all out with tweezers. No problem! Maybe if you can just get a little opening cut, it'll come on out... IF it doesn't get any better after a few days.
How did you wrap the foot? I tried and it was a disaster! Do you have the duck standing? How far up the leg do you go?

I let her out of the enclosure today with all the other girls for about an hour and she seemed better, hardly limping. I will Epsom Salt soak tomorrow morning and see where we stand.

Thanks!
M

If you want to wrap try making a shoe first you can use heavy cardboard or a piece of plastic cut from cool whip or margarine container place her foot on top and make a pattern using marker, then cut it out wrap real well with vet wrap then lay her foot on top the wrap the whole thing in vet wrap you may need some help so one can wrap the other hold. It's much easier to wrap a chickens foot than a ducks.

I tried making a shoe like Miss Lydia said, but that was a disaster for us! Lol. I just wrapped her foot as tight as I could without it being tight... if that makes any since to you... but make sure you wrap up the leg some... & you can wrap that part tighter. I put her on the tailgate of the truck or either a little table we have outside (whichever was closer at the time) & while she stood on the good foot I wrapped the other...I would leave the back claw out, wrapping around it & up the leg...it seemed like it helped with it staying on. I'm glad she seems to be doing better! It sucks to see your lovebird is hurting & you can't fix it for them right away! But I've learned they are TOUGH! & with you doctoring she should be back to normal very soon!

Update: Today she isn't limping. I'll just watch her. I can't believe the toe has gone down, I think she is just saying to herself "I won't limp around that lady she does things that hurt!" LOL. I did order some of the booties, so I will have them next time.
Thanks!

I had the same thing happen to my drake. It actually closes up on its own after a while! :) You don't need to do anything.
The hole was in the pad under the toe. It looked like she had stepped on something, maybe a sticker. The pad was very swollen.

Mine have those holes in the webs as well. I just figured they stumbled and their claw went through the web. Mine are stumble bums! LOL

Glad your's is better!

Great news hopefully that means she is improving now and it's finally over. Bless you both what an ordeal huh?
