MY duck lost his bill

Hi, I just noticed that my duck lost his bill, I am new to having ducks, is there something wrong with him or does this happen sometimes, please help!!!!!

Very bad news-it doesn't happen the way your lips don't periodically fall off. How much of the bill is off? Can it still eat?

no, he can't eat or drink, we are thinking of putting him down, do you think it could have froze off in the water?

No, chances are a predator bit it off.

Thats what I was thinking was maybe something bite it off, but the cold wheather still seems like the culpprit in my mind, we live in upstate ny, and it has got to 20 below this week, we only have four ducks, 3 males and 1 female, we got them this spring, its new to us we have always just had chickens, but the ducks do have a ccop and a fenced area, so I don't know if anything could get in there.

is it all off? omg is it in pain? can it eat? if it I cant imagine not culling an animal injured that badly. So sorry for you and him!!!
