I guess I will just fill everyone in on the current situation, and prodvide a little information in case someone else runs into this problem. We took in our other two and they are completely fine. One has what seems to be a smaller piece of flat metal no sharp edges that isn't providing any risk to her. So all in all they are healthy.
It's weird how much one duck can pick up so much and the other two pick up virtually nothing even though they have been exposed to the same things.
Our bad girl is doing better and showings signs of her old self. Hopefully she will continue to get stronger for surgery on Wednesday.
She's currently on
2 antibiotics and 1 pain med orally
1 calcium injection
$610 vet visit for her. The meds alone are over half of that. Ridiculous.
Surgery is looking like it's going to be $900-$1000.
As far as the anesthesia...research I have done overwhelmingly shows that Isoflurane(which our surgeon will be using) is the best for our avian friends. There has recently been a newer type called sevoflurane which in some cases seems to be the better choice. From the hundreds of things I've read even though a lot of them reiterate the same thing I would never let my vet or recommend someone use something other than those two.
If anyone comes across any other helpful information before Wednesday please let us know thank you for all your help!
