    Hello!
I've been reading a lot on this forum and decided to join.
Anyway, I'm currently incubating some Pekin Ducklings. Over 24 hours ago, one of them has made a hole in its shell (externally pipped??) Since then, the hole has gotten a tiny bit bigger but the duckling isn't making any effort to crack the shell.
He's simply sitting there with his bill out singing away.
He seems quite awake. He's quite loud.
But he isn't trying to break the shell.
How long do ducklings take to zip after externally pipping?

I hatched some Rouen eggs a few weeks ago and one of mine had piped and took almost 48 hours. They are still absorbing the yolk and blood just wait.

Thanks! How long do they take to begin zipping? He hasn't even started. Still sitting and cheeping away...

    PLEASE HELP!!!
Does anyone else have any ideas? The hole is around the size of my thumbnail. The membrane that I can see is a brownish colour. The humidity is 80%. The duckling has been there for 36 hours and hasn't started zipping the hole has only got a little bit bigger. The duckling is still cheeping. How long should I wait before helping it!?!!?

They zip when they are ready to hatch. Ducklings can take a long time to start, 48 hours. If the bill is clear and he can breath, he'll be fine waiting a bit longer.

Phew! That's good to know. His bill is out and he has no problem breathing. Or singing.
Hopefully he'll hatch soon though, the wait is killing me!!

It's been over 48 hours. In the past 24 hours, there's been very little difference. What should I do? The humidity is now at 70%. He's still very active.
