My ducklings has been acting very weak...

Not to be a party pooper... but can you tell your friend that pets are not a good gift unless someone specifically asks for that pet. It is a kind gesture. Just not allways a handy one. I got two goldfish in a bag as a gift... had to buy a whole 150 euro aquarium and plants and other stuff because goldfish can't live in a bag.. that 'gift' cost me 150 times more then the goldfish costed for the gift-giver I dind't want goldfish.

You're right! I never asked for these ducks! I personally think that her mom wanted to get rid of it because she said that she has a lot at home. So since she had no idea what to give me, she decided to just give me that. I'm an 18 year old 11th grader and I can barely take care of myself. I'm lucky I have a cat since he's independent. I just have to make sure he has water and food but anyway, what's done is done. I'll just have to make sure that these babies stay alive so that they can be healthy adults.

You can give them to people who want them, can take care of them, and benefit from their eggs. Win-win for everyone. If you don't feel like taking care of them; that is nothing to be ashamed about or your fault! Animals need time and money, and a lot of times you just don't have that time or money. I would like a big pig, but I don't have the time, money, and live in a city centre and my neighbours wouldn't like the smell.. I would like a zoo if I could! But I can't. Not because I can't give the love, but don't have the time, money and room.
Ducks can reach an age of 15 years! I would look for a better home, and tell your friend that you really liked the gesture, loved the ducks, but unfortunately didn't have the time to give them them proper attention they need with your study activities.

I've lived here for 18 years and I'm enough. I just can't wait to leave. There are so many things here that need to be fixed: the pollution, the government, the hygiene etc. However I gotta day that their dish is delicious. They are big rice eaters here. Rice everywhere(which I think explains why they decide to share it with their chickens and ducks). And there are some sites that are beautiful like the queen' s palace and the countryside

Many people cull animals (nice way to say murder) when ducks are very resilient and may end up living. I have a Muscovy duck that I ended up spending thousands of US dollars due to veterinarian bills. The veterinarian then wanted to bill me to put the duck down. That was over 1 year ago and my duck swims, mates, flies and does everything other ducks do. My duck lived as I stopped giving it all the medicine that the veterinarian was incorrectly prescribing.

By the way, it is very rare that a duck lives 15 years. I would try to give your ducks the best that you can and try to get them healthy.

Even here in the US when people take Muscovy Ducks to some of the Wildlife Rescue the rescue will kill them! They do not tell people that is what they are going to do. Your ducks probably have a better chance with you then anyone in your area.

What will you study at University? Maybe this experience will help you decide what areas that you are interested. I became a lawyer but I would have preferred to have been a veterinarian. I did not learn this about myself until caring for ducks.

That's terrible! I do know that here they kind of do the same thing. I'm not surprised, it's Malagasies. They eat lemurs, bats, and toirtoises. It's awful. They also have a lot of taboo believes. Like there is a species of lemur known as Aye-aye. Not gonna lie, this buddy isn't good looking. They kill those poor lemurs because they believe that they come from the devil. It's ridiculous. But the twin taboo is the worst in my opinion. Twins are considered bad luck so they put one of them next to a cow and wait for the cow to step on it. The taboos here are ridiculous.

And since I was 6, my dream job was veterinarian! I've watched enough Dr.Pol and Dr. K to know for sure that this is what I want (however contrary to Dr.Pol, I'll wear gloves ). I've always loved animals and they know it. So I know that this is my vocation.

So you are saying she should keep ducks she doesn't even want, doesn't have the money and time for because of possibly evil people and that they might 'only live less then 15 years'? Because 8 years is not long? They will sure be killed if she gives them away even to a shelter?

They are dieing now because of neglect.. every situation is better. Noone is going to kill them because there is no meat on them..

Yes, OP is a kind person to animals. No discussion about that. She wouldn't reach out if she didn't care about these ducklings. But forcing her to take care or these ducklings is neither beneficial for her ór the ducks. My opinion is that you are scaring her in taking care of these ducks. That doesn't make OP ánd the ducks happy.

Don't worry! It's almost summer vacation so instead of playing Minecraft I'll take my eyes off the screen and take care of them until they are big. Because no one is going to take them if they look like that. I'm going to wait till they are adults before trying to sell them. Adult ducks are more sellable here. So I just gotta feed them right, use the heating method that has been recommended to me, and make sure that they grow healthy and strong.
