My ducks follow me because of danger. They don’t like being alone, so if I run from one side to the then, they’ll fly after me. They’ll eat of my hand. Blu let’s me pet her, and hug her. I gained their trust through time, and understanding. I had to learn when they wanted to be left alone, and when they’re accepting visitors! I found that on some days, ducks just don’t want to be around me. Other days their clingy! Mostly, it’s sitting calmly beside them; letting them choose to explore near me or not.
Ducks are confusing for me! :barnie

9 weeks old is when they are in their scaredy stage - mine went through that too. As long as you don't chase them and continue to interact with them regularly, they will likely come around and maybe even sit in your lap for those cuddly pictures one day! They sure are beautiful - i don't have any but I love WH and yours are truly gorgeous!

Thank you! One of them (Penelope) seems to be warming up, she will run over to me, but still doesn't want to be picked up. Hopefully they'll all come around ❤️

I love the name Penelope! None of my ducks ever asked to be picked up - but after I do pick them up, all but one will stay for a bit. Usually if I just sit next to them they will peck at my feet and play with my fingers if I hold them out. @Miss Lydia turned me onto 'the stool' for visiting. I added a stool to their pen so I can sit low and not seem so tall and scary. They really like it when I just hang out with them in their pen. they like it even more if I bring meal worms for the visit ;)
