My ducks ran away

My trio of pet quality rouens ran away ... Why? They have been here their whole life, then just run away? What did I do wrong?

How did they run away? They aren't good flyers. Are you sure they didn't just wander off into another area? Was this during the day or at night? Were they somewhere safe? Could something have gotten them?

my drake, and one of the hens fly like mallards! They arent, but they do. The other hen cant very well. They usually only sleep on top of the coop though....

Werid, I have never had any of my domestic Rouens fly any farther then my pekins..... Mine wonder off into the neighbors property if the ponds here have dryed up a bit luckly my neighbors don't care LOL! But they have to travel down stream about 1/2 mile to get to the neighbors big pond so it doesn't happen all that much. But I thought for sure mine had left and searched all over our property not thinking they would follow the small stream to the pond. Sure enough it was getting dark and I hear a bunch of quacking and here come all of them up the stream like no bid deal!!!

my duckling is doing just great, thanks! S/he hatched on Monday, and is now thriving!

Any luck finding your Rouens? I'm sure you checked the usual places, like your neighbors pools and ponds. Any chance your hen got broody and decided to find some dense brush to nest in? Let,s hope they come back at dusk! Are they good about going in at night?

HAHA! You guessed right!!! I found them in the small stream in my moms goat fence!! Then, i went searching around, and found a nest of 3 large, green eggs in the abandoned goat shelter. And she saw me going that way, and started darting to her nest, then flopped on top of it when i got close, so shes being a good mama and protecting her eggies!!!.... the other hen is probably making a nest to... YAY!

My ancona duckling didnt make it... it died a few minutes after in hatched.... I was soooo sad... for a few weeks actually... I was a sad mama duck... still am... But i have 7 more hatching this week ... then 14 other eggs set.... i will probably put some more in after my next 7 hatch.
