I don't have screens. I do have a back yard with chickens in it. Sometimes they just need to come in for a chat, especially when I'm at my computer desk right by the door.
Another time they come in is to get away from John the Perv, er, I mean, "overly-friendly" duck, when he's chasing them. He will run up the deck steps after them but so far he hasn't been into the house.
In the 6 years that I've had chickens I've only had to clean up 1 poop.
Yes, they aren't the most sanitary things to have in a house but at least my visitors don't smell! I had ducklings in a brooder for 3 1/2 weeks and believe me - they stink no matter how hard you try to keep things fresh. I washed down the walls and floor with a disinfectant cleanser when they moved outside.
But I'm a bit weird. I sleep with 2 dogs on my bed, one under the covers and one on my feet. I guess that's not very clean either.
