My EEs think I'm the devil

leenie and suburbanminifarm you should Email me some time.

Maybe we should start our own thread for people who have inside chickens .

There are probably more of us LOL

Indoor chicken thread! I qualify!--why not - lets do it really!
I will just come out of the closet and admit that our beloved silkie Hazel has lately decided that she would prefer to lay her eggs in the house. She pecks at the glass slider and makes raucous jungle fowl noises if I don't attend to her needs! So, being a reasonable person I let her in every morning to inspect the family room and lay her egg. Her husband and little white baby who looks like a snowball with a head complete the parade as they accompany her. Her husband cracks me up the most; he knows exactly what she is doing and has this bored, patient demeanor while he waits, head slightly down, sighing, occasionally stretching; I feel like offering him a newspaper.
leenie and iluvcks your posts are so entertaining -- my DH looked over my shoulder and read the part about your ee laying her egg in your 10 year old's room and he laughed out loud! (we have a 10 year old son too)

i've read stuff on potty training. They say you should start at 3 weeks. All of ours are WAY past that

I don't think we mind cleaning the poo

my Lola that I got 12-1-09, took treats from my hand last night. And I thought it was great a couple weeks ago when she didnt freak out when I would walk past her. Making progress

Mine are really friendly, and I have 23 of four different breeds of standard high-production large egg-layers. One thing we did when they were chicks was to always talk to them and the friendlier ones got a trip to the front porch swing with daddy for 5 minutes. Soon I had a small fan club!

When feeding, I always whistled 'Rocky Top' and today they will come running and flapping if they hear me whistling. They all follow my wife around like they were her chicks. If we go out for some chicken TV, they jump up on our shoulders and laps and tell us all about their day. One black aussie is a real cuddler and wants to snuggle down for a nap every time.

Don't give up hope! All my EE's started out as the most skittish, unfriendly, annoyingly untrusting birds of all my chicks! And they were like that until about 8 months of age, sadly. After that, though, they cleared right up and were absolute dolls!!
