Painted Pony: What's an NN? (sorry for my ignorance...) I'd like some of those pink and white eggs...

I was wondering what an NN was, too. I'm feeling like I should now, but . . .

Oozer finally had to go. There was nothing happening inside and further than what was there for several days, so I had to get rid of him.

On the really bright side, I finally saw into one of the olives, shell must be a bit a thinner. I can't see much, but I can make out the "horseshoe" outline that I see in the other eggs at this stage, so I know it's developing. And I'm pretty sure I saw it in the three as well, but not as well. The air cells in all four are now visible and were not before and they all look like there is some development going all, but it's so dark. I think it makes it very easy to see the cell now because the rest of the egg is so dark and there is so much contrast now.

Also, one silkie, and 3 EE's (blue/green) are looking great and I can see movement in at least two of the EE's.

So... I think I have 1 silkie, 3 EE's, and a good chance of all four olive EE's being good. I am soooo happy!! Way better than I expected with a temp spike to 110!!

This is day 13, so Saturday is lockdown, I think. Would that be right?

Oh my gosh that's fabulous news. That is amazing after that spike. Ur getting shined on by Gods graces for sure yah yah yah

I need a 12 step program to keep me from candling.

I know Sonew's mantra: STEP AWAY FROM THE BATOR!! not working...

I told my husband to smack my hands. Even the threat of violence isn't working... I'm just planning to wait til he goes to bed, lol.

Seriously, perhaps when I've done this long, but right now, it's taking every ounce of willpower in me not to check these eggs constantly! Like every morning and night!!!

So I've decided that my solution for tonight is to EAT. That's what I'd do if I were pregnant. And I'm expecting babies... so there. Tomorrow, I may have to turn in my flashlight to my husband though...

you know what? Ill confess..when I was incubating my own eggs last time I was great-yah I snuck a peek or two but I was good and I honestly think thats why my hatch did great. Now I have a bator full of expensive eggs-and I cant stop looking at them either. I will not touch them tonight-I wont-I WILL touch them tomorrow though:) DAY 7 tomorrow...It's so hard but now that I dont have back up eggs of mine to throw in I have to be very careful with these shipped eggs. so I will help you again SLAP SLAP SLAP-GET AWAY FROM THAT BATOR..ps I just ate a handful of M&M's and hershey kisses-so we are even!! haha

My apologies folks, NN is my Naked Necks (turkens to some). I have one little red NN that lays a pink egg with some white speckiles all over it. It's a pretty egg but I'm not sure what I should breed her to in order to keep that color in the bloodline. I've held it up to my light brown eggs and it is certainly pink Vs light brown.

That's so cool, Painted Pony. Now another question: How do the naked necks do in colder weather? I would think that would be difficult for them. But I don't know much about them.

It sure helped me when I read a post by hinkjc (Jodi, a moderator). She wrote it so well. She told of all the problems excess candling causes. You can actually cause the egg to become detached, and quit. You introduce bacteria every time you touch the egg, which can kill it. She wrote other things, too ... but those are the ones I recall.

I rarely candle anymore, besides at lockdown.
