My eggs taste very bland

Oh and my leghorns are not good at foraging.
Swiss chard can be grown in pots as can many other tasty greens like turnip greens.

I have hawks....lots of hawks. My gals get watermelon, corn, cantaloupe, and any greens I can grow given to them. Foraging is no longer an option here.

When I got back into chickens, went to Dels/TSC, asked for layer and was given a Dumor brand. I used to get Home Grown Layer & never had issues, also ferment my feed. Noticed with Dumor their poop was smellier & softer, finished up the bag & put them on Flock Raiser with Oyster Shells on the side. BIG DIFFERENCE in poop & quality of birds. Not bad mouthing Dumor but it's my personal experience.
The worst part is Dels keeps running out of Flock Raiser (pricer), changing alot over to Dumor which is also a Purina product as is Flock Raiser but I find a difference (quality?). Recently went to get some scratch (treat & exercise) for my girls since they can't free range, they're no longer carrying the one I used to get but now it's a "PP" brand.
So now I'm considering changing over to Nutrena, we have a feed store that carries sole Nutrena products. Years ago purchased my rabbit feed/supplies from them, never had an issue nor did they "run out".
Switched over to Dels/TSC only cause that's where the person I get my chickens from goes to. Now to do research on Nutrena's products, anyone?

For one, stop feeding them the grower feed. Layer feed only. Also stop feeding them bananas, watermelon and all the other stuff. Free range for a while is ok but not all the other things. Save the fruit and other things only for treats and then in only very small samples. Don't allow them to make a meal of these things. They are filling up on useless stuff that isn't helping their eggs at all. The layer feed is a 100% diet and that is what they need to eat. I use an omega 3 boosted feed and the yolks are high and a bright orange. Very robust and tasty eggs as well.

Great, i will look for the Nutrena. Also should I be leaving food out all the time or feeding schedule?

They are not all laying yet. Should I still stop the grower feed? I only give them the bananas and watermelon a couple of times a week. Is that ok or should I stop that?

Opinions vary on stopping the grower feed all together.
I feed mine grower until everyone is laying then gradually change feed.

Treats are fine as long as kept to a small amount. 10% of the intake is recommended. I measure that out to about 1/4 cup of greens/melons or 1/8 cup of scratch per bird per day. Days mine get melon/greens they do not get scratch.

Yep...I don't change over at all. I feed chick starter 100% of the time. I also complement with millet and wheat.

I can't even buy store bought or order eggs in the restaurant anymore...no taste and they bother my stomach.
