I'm going to be patient with this one. I know I want them, but I want to get the BBSOs established, and hopefully my Red Dorkings, first. I will need about 3 more pens as it is to take care of the birds I will hatch this year. I don't want to give hubby a heart attack! LOL! But I broached the subject with him, and I might swap out the light brahmas for Delawares, so please yes, keep me in mind? And I'll check back with you later.
I've made the decision not to hatch ANY chicks between July 31st and Jan 1, just because of the extreme cold temps. I would have been fine if my Ameraucana chicks hadn't had to stay in the garage. I tried to keep them out in the layer coop at about 12 weeks, but they were still too small for -35F. Didn't lose any, but one has mild frostbite on the toes and is recovering. The only thing that will make me incubate is if someone actually orders chicks.
