My Fawn and White ducklings and Pekin almost a month old!

As long as there are no mutations, I'm fine with it.

We put together a hen house and run I bought of eBay a few weeks ago, it is GREAT!!!

When I put the ducklings in, they were a bit scare,d as for their first week, they were living in a hutch (about the size of 2 normal sized tv's), so when I out them in the new hutch, they were a bit bidazzled with all the space.
I was so happy when I was setting up their water and I kept talking to the little ones, everytime I'd stop talking or take a break, they'd start peeping,

Turns out they wern't scared of me, they came out of the coop into the run and sat under me. I fealt so bad for walking away as they kept peeping.

But, I have to say, if I was a duck... I'd be thrilled with my new 'house'.

I When I first saw the hen house, it looked a bit smaller then the picture, but when the ducklings were put in, it suddenly looked huge.

On better home and gardens that was on tonight, they showed a Musovy that kept biting her owner, but the girl had been keeping the duck inside with no other ducklings, so the duck thought it was human, when she put it outside and went to pat her, and the duck would bite... they duck was 8 months old, puberty, and was testing the limits.

Haha, thats how my ducklings where when i had taken them outside for a walk!

And its good that they are not scared of you, but as time goes on and they mature they may not be as loving of you, I noticed with mine they will love you ALOT and then it fades haha.

And im sure they love their home, esp. once they get older :)

My muscovie scares little kids, but she wont bite just nibble a little xD!

Yesterday we were out in the garden looking for snails which eat the mail... so, I was lifting up a few bricks and finding LOTS of snails!
But... as Daffy was beside me waiting eagerly for her next snail, the brick slipped from my hand and fell on her back.

She didn't want anything to do with me then, I was very worried as she was limping on her left leg, So, I picked her up, gave her the once-over, it was just a bit grazed but looked painful. No nerve damage, it wasn't broken, so I started to calm down... I think I was more scared than her!

This morning I went to feed her and she was fine, the skin was replaced and she was happy to see me as always! I'm just glad she still trusts me.

I also found that as they get to about 5 or so months, they go through a type of adolesent faze, when they are too cool to worry about their mum. But, my girls are 8 months now and they still love me, I'm getting closer and closer to Daffyn (daff-eene), she still doesn't want to eat from my hand, but, if I drop the food on the ground under my hand... she'll take it within 2 seconds flat!

The ducklings are eating from my hand... and I finally got their names sorted out, finally. There is Peeper (Pekin who would not be quiet when I first got her), Speckles (as the name states this little one is... well, speckled, a Khaki Campbell) and last but not least, Crackle (she looks like a little bean with a black/grey line down her back, also a Khaki Campbell)

cskotek, on your undlerlineing, it says that you have 2 White Pekins... what are these? I thought the only Pekins available were the ones with a white body and orange/yellow beak and feet. Would you be able to post a pic?

I have 2 muscovies (8 Months), 1 Pekin and 2 Khaki Cambell ducklings

Although I love the ducklings dearly, Muscovies still come out on top.

They have their own looks and personality with their little red 'comb' and are very quite (except when they wanna get let out, they get a bit noisy... but not much). When they are content, they wag their tail like a pup and purr like a cat.

But, like any ducks they are messy, but, I still think they are the best!

p.s. Don't hold back!

They are just normal pekins, I just put white because thats their color lol. And I have a tendancy of calling them the "white pekins" to my family so we know which ones im talking about, its a habit. haha.

I have that problem with my 2 girls.
Daffy and Daffyn. The sames are very similar.

So I say the blue one and the white one. Then then know.
