Nice, your coop is nice, you are nice, this was just a nice story. I like how you took care of your wife's favorite chickens and built them a special condo. You are a great guy.

I used 6 of them! We bought them at Lowes for our pups (2 Min Pins and Jack Russel mix) to hang out in, but they never really used it too much and they ended up collecting dust in the garage. I thought it would be a lot easier to use them for the coop rather than build it completely from scratch. But yes I love the way it looks

BTW...getting about 5 eggs a day now
Oh man...that ought to be illegal.
The run alone is worth a (not so) small fortune. If you calculate that into the cost of those eggs, I'd say they will have to lay 5 eggs a day for at least half a year straight, at $ 12.00/dozen.
Can you tell I am jealous though? I live close to Priefter who sells similar panels, but as much as I like how it looks...I don't think my husband will fall for the $12.00 per carton price
Got the Polish girls living in their new condo while I finish up some of the last touches. Their feathers are growing back nicely, and I got my first egg from them this week too!

Yes, you should cover the entire area with it. See My BYC Page for pictures. I realize 1/2- X 1/2-inch hardware cloth is expensive, but the benefits are many, especially never having to worry about their all being killed by one of the MANY kinds predators that can go through other kinds of wire.
