Hello im new to back yard chickens. I just built my first coop( look at the the photos and if you have any ideas let me know)
Im going to mainly keep them in there and let them run around the yard for a couple hours a day. Im thinking 3 chickens, 2 Rhode island reds and some sort of fancy one for the wife to look at. I live in texas so and suggestions would be nice.....Thanks!

That's adorable... (I know not a manly compiment, but your wife will appreciate that!). I would suggest adding some hardware cloth across the bottom 2-3 ft just in case of predators reaching their little paws/claws in after you gals should they be snoozing up against the side since you likely have nive weather they may suprise you and sleep out of the coop! Otherwise great job!

OMG!!! LoVE IT! what type of wire did you use?? working on my own, and having quite hard time

Bawk Bawk!! (that means "good work" in chickenese)

Looks sweet! Make sure they get their "free" time daily. You'll have much happier chickens! And if you keep your pocket full of chicken treats during that same time..... you'll have the friendliest flock on the block!

I'll try to get ahold of some hard cloth, I live in a residential neighborhood, so maybe the preditors wont be to bad. We did however catch a pretty big coon down the street a few months ago in a squial trap.
