My First Ducks Ever Are Hatching!

How come you didn't want anything to do with them? I always wanted chickens as a kid. The first breed that actually inspired me was the white silkie. A friend's boyfriend lived on a farm and his grandma had a whole flock. They were so weird and cute!

I also have amazing parents that love animals and I grew up and raised all kinds. I was given and raised two tiny mallards. That's a story my mom loves to tell family. I had those two ducks in the house til they were full sized lol! I used to carry them both under each arm like footballs and they followed me everywhere.

I can't wait to have ducks again and I hope they are as tame! Anyway I have PICS!

I don't know. I was about 16 when we got them. Thought they were gross. My dad said don't get too attached because we are eating them. So, I think I decided that I didn't want anything to do with them. We had them in an old camper. I am not sure my dad had it set up right either. But, I also never took care of them. Let my brothers do that. Ha. We also had a pig and a pony. I think my dad wanted a little farm, but at the time I was not interested. Lots of things are like that for me. He used to have a huge garden which I hated working in. Now, I have my own.

Cute! Is this the same duckling? Or did others hatch yet?

Yep it's the same. I also have a fresh hatchling in the incubator! This one is completely yellow with color on the tail only. The bill is kind of bluish.

There's another zipping and the rest have been externally pipped since last night so I hope to have new pics throughout the day.

Man I wish I had all that as a kid. We were in town, never had a garden either. Funny how things change with age, lol. You know you're getting old when a new vacuum cleaner is exciting.

The little brat ran right up to the incubator when I was messing with it trying to get pictures. First one out is pretty spoiled, hanging out with me all day, following me around and sleeping all over me.

Number 4 just tumbled from the shell. This one pipped on the wrong end and I helped it just a little. It finally came out on it's own.
