my first EGG from one of my 6 RIR's

i will keep you posted and thanks everyone around this part of louisiana usually keeps their chickens in old dog pens. but not us we built them a 8ft tall 8ft wide and 20ft long inclosed coop and run i think that like it, all my friends call it the chicken condo..lol good luck with yours mine started when they were 20 weeks old

she skipped one day and then layed that one. and again today she skipped so i should get one tommorrow too, she seems to be laying them right before they go up on the roost for the night...it is fun going and checking for new eggs and i have two more that just started to do the egg song so soon i will be getting a few a day... cant wait and thanks for the congrats and please let me know when yours start to lay

When do your girls do the egg song? I imagine that is what I used to hear from my neighbors house who had a flock of chickens. That, bock, bock. bock. BACK AH! Is that it? lol, do they do it in the morning? Funny how she lays her egg before she goes up to roost. I always thought that they lay eggs in the morning. I imagine that it can change too.


Thanks for the interest in my girls. Yes, I will be so very happy when we get there. I realize that when I got the chicks, that it will be dead of winter by the time they come to POL but I hope we do get some even if it isn't what it will be after February thru till spring. If you can, I'd love to see some pics of your RIR's. I have two of them. I named them Charlotte and Rose after my nieces. My daughter is so excited too.

We found our first egg last Tuesday and have had 5 since then!!! SO excited!!!
