my first EGG from one of my 6 RIR's

We got 4 today! WOO HOO

But we had a sad day here : (

We hav e been trying to give away 2 roosters for a couple of months with no luck. We were being patient until yesterday one of them attacked my daughter. SO I had a friend come over to "take care of it" and he accidently shot the wrong chicken : (

My poor babies are so sad...and so am I

congrats on the first egg, i just got my first egg off my little maran pullet, and i blew it out and like normal it had no yoke. good luck on the future eggs i have about 30 rir girls that i hatch from and they are awesome, they are just starting to lay decent again after a 2 month break in the heat, but you will love those reds they will fill your fridge up with eggs before you know it.

got a dozen and a half now.. time change is coming so i just went and picked up a timer and a light for the coop. trying out one of the natural day light florescent bulbs 13 watts.. and about to winterize my coop.. have a eggcelent day
