My first hatch and it pipped in the wrong spot...

Just keep doing a bit at a time. You can moisten the membrane as you go as long as it dosnt go into its beak. As you take the shell away it should be able to make an effort on its own then. It really is just time time and more time :hugs

Day before yesterday I had the same thing happen. My second egg to pip pipped smack dab in the middle. It was making no further attempts almost 20 hours in. So I did basically what Yorkshire just said. I pulled it out (had q-tips and water handy along with my tweezers) and proceeded to chip around the pip, but just the shell. I moistened the membrane and was able to pull it back where there were no membranes. Once I had the whole big enough to see exactly what position she was in I knew she'd never make it out on her own. So I put her back in to rest a while. Periodically over the next few hours I would repeat the process making her escape hatch a bit bigger then putting her back in to rest and give her time to try on her own. Finally once enough of the shell was moved and she could reposition her foot I put her back in and in no time had she flipped out of the shell, and soon after separated from her cord. She or he, is doing fine and is beautiful. Good luck.

Hour 27 after pip...Boy, I am really hoping for the same happy ending...The blessed little chick is still alive...still chirping and hasn't kicked free. I think it is just stuck...I wasn't sure about trying to remove more of the membrane where the pip was so it could get out more beak....problem is...I can not figure out what I am looking at...

You need to try and find where the beak is and remove the shell that's there. In a normal hatch they make a cap to push off by zipping and when that's loose enough they push their head up from under the wing. Then use the legs to push out of the shell fully.
I can't see the beak on the pics

In the last pic...the beak pokes through the hole at 4o'clock position...but just the tip.

Is there a certain amount of time between assists??? I am running about every 2 hours or so... (Which feel like a decade)

Two hours sounds good. I know it feels like forever, give it time as long as it's breathing. If all the blood vessels/ veins have been absorbed you can remove some membrane round its beak.

Poor lil guy had his beak ^ head all hidden under his wing. The membrane was ridiculous...I can see why he was stuck. So, his head is free now and a wing. I left him to rest and hopefully push out. I think I will help him again in an hour or so and finish the job if he doesn't get rid of his shell. /S/He is chirping. Thanks for the help.

This is where we are now...

I hope he makes it! My malpositioned one had its beak under it's leg so when I opened the pip hole his foot was actually over the beak and there was no room for him to move. I wish I had thought to take a pic of his little beak and foot sticking out the hole. lol I did get pics of my assist with my shrink wrapped one though.
