Maybe you can find another chick some where so he won't be alone. I hatched some Belgium quail this summer almost all cockerels, very friendly chickens.

The chick in my profile pick, was my only survivor (I had two late hatchers) out of our first incubation attempt. She is healthy, (usually happy-until she has to go back to her pen...lol) She is almost 8 weeks now. While I do think she would have been happier had she had a hatchling buddy, she's been treated like a princess and has been allowed to spend a good share of time out with us to make up for no chicken friends. (Yes, I have to follow behind her sucking up pellets...lol But at least they are normally nice dryish ones...lol) My babies were born Wednesday and Thursday and while they are way to little to be in with her, their brooder is right across from her pen and she settles down at night now with no problem. (Before it would take her an hour or two after bedtime before she would stop yelling and settle down to go to sleep.) If I had it to do all over again I would probably try to find her a buddy from someone. I think it would have been a heck of a lot easier.I had ordered 5 silkies due here tuesday or wed. Hopefully, he will be able to make it until then. He's so cute..I am just happy to have life!
I still don't know what kind I have....lol and she's almost 8 weeks....lolI hatched almost year round,if anyone ever needs a chick for a buddy,no telling what kind I will have on hand.LOL
