Yeah, there could be dozens of reasons for the low hatch rate, so who knows.
M.A is the most adorable and noisy chick i've met lol. He's currently sleeping on my belly under my hand. He seems to love that secure feeling, and it shuts him up for a bit haha!
I don't keep him out of the brooder for too long though because of the temperature. But i was told as long as he is warm in my hand, he will be fine, as in the wild the mother doesn't sit on them 24/7 after they've hatched to keep them warm, so the rule isn't too strict.
But after he's had a good snooze i put him back in the brooder again anyway. Then he starts screaming and running around
I have found one thing though, if i whistle, he comes running towards me haha! It's so cute
My parents couldn't wait for me to hatch some chicks and then wait for them to grow, so they bought three, 6 week old button quails and they have been in the aviary since it went up. They now have 4 parrotlets in there too, and they are just stunning to look at, really like them.
All together the parrotlets and the quails are just so much fun to watch. I'll miss M.A when he gets big enough to join them, but it will be better for him to be with other Quails rather than here with me.
I'll get to see him when i go over for a visit though, and i've told them i'll clean the aviary for them each week, as my parents are both retired now and they don't need any more hassles in life. So i'll do my bit for them, and help out with all that.
My parents have set up a small wifi camera, so now i can log in at any time from my house and see the inside of the aviary and watch them all in there. And with night vision too, so i can check in on them on the nights i'm awake.
I can't wait to see M.A all fully grown, he/she will beautiful to me no matter what his colours
Speaking of M.A, he's starting to wake up lol, i better get off here so i can catch him if he decides to fly out of my hand at the speed of light haha! So fast!!
