Soooo sorry for that! It really is awful. What kind of 'bator is it?

Steve, good luck! I'm watching yours- I am finishing Day 18 at 8:30 tonight......

It was a hova-bator 2362 - brand new. I tested it for a couple days before I put the eggs in so I assumed it was fine. Then this happens on day 14.

Very frustrating.

As day 18 nears, I have a question or two.

Does it make a difference what time on day 18 I take them out of the turner? I set them in the afternoon.

After adding water should I put paper toweling down then put eggs on top, or do not put paper toweling down until they go into brooder? ( I'm guessing the latter)

After reading about Chickenpalace problems, I had to get up a couple times during the night to keep a eye on what the temp was doing.

Everything is still doing good.

It won't make a lot of difference when you take out the turner. Day 18 sometime is good.

Put the paper toweling down when they go in the brooder for sure, but now that you mention it, I wonder if paper toweling on top of the wire would make for simpler clean up? You'll see- when those buggers hatch, it will look like a bomb went off in there and smell nasty too.

The 1588 should have a shutoff switch to avoid temp spikes.

Here we are at day 18!

I put the sectioning device in the bator after adding water. You can see I needed to add a little to the short wing. Remember to always measure twice and cut once.

Then I put the eggs in the different areas. The big section is the eggs from Miss Prissy, they are BBS Orps. The white ones go to member "the funny farm 2732" right after hatching, and the remaining brown eggs will stay here then go to a friend in Michigans Upper Peninsula that wants to get some chicks.

After hatch is complete they will go into my stock tank brooder. I bought it at the local salvage yard for $10.00.

Okay, if you guys got any left, send some of them hatching vibes my way!

Temp is 99.5 and the humidity started at 75% but has been stepping down, it is at 68% now, but I assume it will go down as things equal out. (?)

Now we wait......
