My Flaming Red Orpington Roo - New Photos pg 11

I shook the Orpington tree yesterday and along with it my poultry barn.

Here are some updated photos of Red and the Golden girls (hatched from Jody and Charlie's BO's).

I also made a big move and put my pullet from Julie's RIR's (hatch by my broody Wyandotte, Wanda, this past spring) into the harem of this big red devil of a roo.

As you can see his tail feathers that had suffered plucking when he lived in the main laying house have grown back fabulously. The green sheen is much more magnificent in contrast to his red feathering when you see him in the light of day and in person.

These are some of the last chicks to hatch from eggs Red fertilized.

Sadly, to date, there is only 1 - ONE - pullet in the entire lot of eggs I have hatched from him.

Here's hoping for some pullets from these new girls.

He is as slick and shiny as any chicken I have ever seen. Very striking colors. Be interesting seeing what the chicks look like when bred back to the offspring..
