My free range hen has laid an odd egg.

My older BBW turkey has layed her last few eggs like that right before molting, although her molting probably has nothing to do with it. ...they're neat to touch.

My one hen layed an egg that looked wrinkled and it never happened again. BTW I ate the egg and it was fine. Someone told me that they thought the egg may have been in the "egg chute" too long.

As I said I would I cracked the egg for my breakfast. The egg in the skillet looked and acted just like all eggs and tasted just fine. It must just be one of those things. the shell inside was not the same color, more of a cream color. The other eggs are white inside. The shell was a little thinner than a regular egg. Someone said it might have something to do with molting and as there are feathers everywhere there are several hens molting as well as the turkeys. I'll see what happens when everyone is all feathered out again. Harewizard posted photos of one and a regular egg. The regular egg was much smaller in that photo, the one here was basically the same size as a regular egg just misshaped.

Well the odd looking egg is now gone, all 7 daily eggs now look the same. Whatever was that caused the wrinkled eggs has cleared up. Everything has remanrd the same, feed is the same, nothing new in the coop. Nothing new in the yard where they range. Must have just been one of those things.
