My Geese love their Hay

Lydia and aoxa........ we use to order in Timothy cubes (like the alfalfa cubes) to feed to our Wallabies during the winter months. We could feed them whole,or soak in water to soften and drain off the water. Easy storage, easy to feed. Fed them to our rabbits too with good success.

Miss Lydia, I called your Asheville Southern States store. They carry 50lb timothy/orchard hay bales for $6.75 each, which would be perfect for your geese.
Oh my gosh J I just saw your post, so excited to hear this, Thank you so much.

Miss Lydia,

What is the hay wrapped up in? It looks like green chicken wire? I have been trying to figure out some way to hold the hay for my geese and this would be perfect!

Thanks!

Joanne

I am honestly not sure, flockman. Last winter, my geese had access to my horses' feeding piles plus the hay barn, so I never monitored intake. I guess I will find out this winter with my dewlaps once the snow buries the grass.

It is difficult to find timothy hay here. Field after field of alfalfa. I remember living at home with my parents and we had horses. We could feed a bale a day at times. I didn't know if a flake or 2 is enough or should I feed more. Or do I just put it in something like Miss Lydia and then refill when they finish or have eaten what they like out of it? Thanks.
