I once found a diamond and saphire ring in a dress I bought at a thrift store. The jewelers sticker price was still on it. $2400.00. I turned it in to the store manager assuming they would return it to the person that donated the dress or to the jeweler....nope. They sold it for $999.00. I didn't even get a thank you for turning it in. I should have just kept it...but felt like I needed to do the right thing....sure wish THEY had.

Wow, bummer! You were trying to do the right thing and it didn't pay off! I would go in there and pitch a fit! You bought the dress, you own whatever is in the pocket!!! And since they couldn't find the owner, they should have returned it to you! Jerks!

Pumpkin, about the ring you found in your barn... Keep it, without guilt. There is nothing you can do.

I found a ring in my garden while digging. It has a very small diamond, that may not even be real. My farm has been in my family for 4 generations. If the owner ever comes up, I'll return it, but otherwise, who do I go look for??

In your case, the same thing. How in the world are you supposed to find the owner.

You got a special little gift from your chickens on your land. Keep it and enjoy!

I'm sure whoever owned the ring would rather it be on your finger than in the mud somewhere.​
