My Hatching Journey: the Adventures of a Complete Newbie

Alright. At least I won't be too disappointed now if day 21 comes and goes with nothing. Thanks.

At least you didn't spend a lot of money shipping in eggs that is a plus . the little thermometer in the hygro two is wrong I would bet on it .I have spent so much money on thermometers trying to find one that is right . the little paper one I hate . the Hygro II. I trust the hygrometer but not the thermometer . the one I showed you in the picture is the only one That I trust and the only type I use .well that is not true . I have one accurite from Northren tool that I used to set the temperature in my hatching incubator taped to two wooden eggs . but I bought eight to find one good one . they were five dollars a each

. also have a Pyle hand held hygrometer that cost eighty dollars that is worthless . but you will get it right .

It is off by 1 degree.

I hope so, the EHAL is coming up and I'd like some chicks then. I might have to snag a few peepers before then in order to tide me over, though, because I am a shameless addict.

and we aren't going any where . so get through this one and then start on the next one . I think you need to invest in a better thermometer . this is why I wanted you to set more eggs

hope is all there is some times .

I posted this picture on the frog but I will tell you the story of how I came by it . my brother and best friend was dying and gave me this picture knowing what losing him would do to me it hangs in my kitchen to give me strength when I miss him and am having a bad day with my son. he had a great sense of humor .

Good motto!

I hope so, the EHAL is coming up and I'd like some chicks then..... I might have to go "buy a bag of feed" (read: that and another peeping package) at the feed store that carries chicks accidentally-sort-of-on- purpose, to tide me over until then....

Having a broody hen do it is not the same . you don't get to watch the pip and zip . and the little chick pushing out .I have waited for days for a mare to foal so I could be there only to miss it . not that way with chicks

Sorry for that... :hugs

I wanted to quote your other quote, but the pertinent info was inside K's post, lol... did you ever give your flock anything for the respiratory issues?

Thanks...

Nope. It went away by itself, and I never was able to figure out what it actually was... I asked a few times about the symptoms, but no one answered, so I figured it wasn't too important.

What were the symptoms? You can PM me if ya want... and yes, if it's a respiratory disease then it can affect egg viability and hatchability...
