My heart is broken, Scovey Hen flew off yesterday

I'm afraid not :-( She's been gone since Jan.21st so I'm feeling that I will never see my girl again. I think she went off looking for a fella and either found a new home or something got her *shudder* She used to flirt with my Mallard Drake like crazy but he would never top her, in fact he always acted scared of her because she was so much bigger than him.

I am the proud Mamma to 6 Muscovies that are 12 weeks old and they have done a great job of helping with the pain. It is wonderful to be greeted by singing scovies, there's just no other sound like it. I have 4 girls and 2 boys so hopefully nobody will feel a need to fly off and find a friend.

I've been following this too, so sorry it didn't turn out how we all expected

Just keep the thought that she is in a new home with lotsa lil fuzzy ducklings, and that maybe once they've grown up and don't need her anymore she'll wander back.
Good luck with your new scovies, I bet their gorgeous!

PlumTuckered, so happy you have some Muscovy babies to help heal your heart. We have M ducklings pipping right now, it's been 4 years since we have had any ducklings, and I had to limit the amt. of eggs my girl could sit, because of room, so we're hoping for 3 girls!!

Aw. I just found this thread. I was hoping to find different news when I got to the end of it. Still, I'm glad you have new babies. I have four 'scovie eggs chirping at me from inside the incubator right now. I'm gonna subscribe so I can follow any other news.

Well went out this morning to see how things were going and my scovie hen had hatched one duckling and for some reason had pushed it over in the corner, it was still wet and cold but living, I put it back under her and went to feed everyone came back and she had pushed it out again so I picked it up and didn't look like anythoing was wrong, didn't know what to do so went into the chicken coop and there is my brahma hen who has been broody already this spring and hatched chicks sitting on an egg so I put the duckling under her and she accepted it, then I went back out and my M girl wasn't sitting on the other egg that had pipped so I took it and put it under the same brahma hen, she settled right down on it, I can't understand what is going on with my M girl never had this problem before. Just thankful my brahma was ready to brood again. Now my M duck has 1 more egg under her, as soon as I took the pipped egg out she settled right back down. I am as confused as her. What could be going on with her?

Hmmm I honestly don't know. I've had a Jumbo Pekin Hen do that but Pekins aren't famous for hatching out babies anyway. I'd just keep an eye on her in case you have to run that last egg to your Chicken as well.
My Buff Orpington chickens are like that too, they'll accept any babies anytime LOL

I've got a Pekin Hen (she's 2 yrs old) on a nest of eggs that should be hatching out within a week...she's been such a good setter but I'm worried because the eggs don't look so good to me and she's already had to toss out 4 eggs that had gone rotten.
