I have a year old silkie hen and her chicks just started hatching two days ago, so far 7 have hatched and three are pipped.

She has had sour crop for a while but its definitely getting better, today she has no fluid in her crop

She was just sitting on her chicks and all of a sudden i herd a lot of movement and looked over and saw her having a seizure (im quite familiar with seizures since me and my dog has epilepsy and one of my hens recently passed away in my arms from a seizure)

but my broody girl is still alive acting line nothing happened and she’s talking to her chicks. Im wondering if i have to do anything for her
i brought her inside a couple days ago so i can give her better treatment for sour crop but do you think I should separate her and her babies but that will just make her go broody again

Shes really skinny due to both being broody and having sour crop but now that she has chicks she’s eating

Please help and give me any advice you think will be beneficial
Thank you

Broody hens can have full squishy crops first thing in the morning and all day just because their metabolism has really slowed. Has she had a sour or rotten odor from her beak when you check her crop? Since she has had a seizure, I would observe her well and offer some electrolyte water or something like Poultry NutriDrench 1 ml orally. Was she broody for long before she sat on the eggs? She could be really weak. Make sure that she would not be in danger of getting pecked and chicks hurt if she has another seizure. You might want to raise the chicks in a brooder with a heat source if she is really weak or has another seizure. Chickens tend to look like they are seizing when they die. I have witnessed a few in the throes of death who have an arched and twisted neck who stumble around and seize up. It may be pretty normal. Here is a good article on crop problems.:

there was a odor but she’s doing a lot better, she doesn’t seem weak at all shes been moving around and i have medicated chick food and some poly-v-sol in the water for the chicks

When she had the seizure i did think she was passing but shes still alive and acting fine, my brooder is empty so if i do have to move the chicks i have a place for them, or my rooster would adopt them
