She's a Leghorn I think she's 3 years old I gave her an Epsom salt bath I used K-Y jelly in her vent it's been 3 days now she hasn't laid any eggs she seems to be better she's eating she's drinking I gave her some yogurt I gave her some apple cider vinegar in her water checked your crop thought she had sauerkraap cuz she was tipping her head off and putting her mouth open and close she seems to stop doing that now I've got her back in the coop she's runs around if I go to pick her up but she still keeping her bottom down so I I don't think she's egg-bound anymore I don't think it's sour crop I'm not sure what it is that's why I joined the club see if anybody knew what it isWelcome to BYC!
What breed is she? How old is she? When was her last egg? Is her abdomen bloated? Is she lethargic at all?
I suspect a reproduction issue.
I also found her in the nest box I'm trying to lay an egg there was an egg in there but I don't think it was hers she's still walking like a penguin and seems like she's trying to push something out her bottom's not swollen grabbed him it's not swollen for crops not swollen her vents cleanShe's a Leghorn I think she's 3 years old I gave her an Epsom salt bath I used K-Y jelly in her vent it's been 3 days now she hasn't laid any eggs she seems to be better she's eating she's drinking I gave her some yogurt I gave her some apple cider vinegar in her water checked your crop thought she had sauerkraap cuz she was tipping her head off and putting her mouth open and close she seems to stop doing that now I've got her back in the coop she's runs around if I go to pick her up but she still keeping her bottom down so I I don't think she's egg-bound anymore I don't think it's sour crop I'm not sure what it is that's why I joined the club see if anybody knew what it is

Sounds like she could be egg bound. Although I don't think she'd still be living being egg bound for 3 days.I also found her in the nest box I'm trying to lay an egg there was an egg in there but I don't think it was hers she's still walking like a penguin and seems like she's trying to push something out her bottom's not swollen grabbed him it's not swollen for crops not swollen her vents clean
Yes, calcium should be given.I would give her some Calcium.
If you can get some tablets like those use for people, pop one down her beak.
It is fairly easy pry open her beak, and then if you can get it in, she will swallow it.
Thanks for the input but I've already done that.from what I've researched if egg bound they have only 48 hrs to live if the egg is not layed and they also can't have a bowel movement as the egg blocks this making the fecal matter toxic.since its surpassed the 48 hours and she's improved by eating and drinking on her own I don't believe egg bound is the issue.Penguin stance usually means a hen is eggbound. Soak her again in a container of warm water, as necessary until she lays the stuck egg. The warm water will help relax and expand her innards. Then place your hand under her while she is soaking and gently massage her underside front to rear. The massaging will help encourage her to move the egg along. Do this for about 30 minutes.
Then wear a disposable glove and put a little olive oil or vegetable oil just inside her vent with your finger. It will help make it easier for her to lay the stuck egg.
