I was just telling my husband about the wonderful coops I am seeing being built. He said...

"You don't need a coop, you need a freezer."

Men, gotta love 'em!

It took DH 24 yrs before he finally gave in to my yearly request to raise chickens. I think he caved when I threatened not to buy any more eggs from the stores.

Now he wishes we had done this soon!

You DH sounds a lot like mine. When my 6 girls were a week or so old I was complaining to him that he needed to talk to them and stuff when he went into the bathroom where they were....I did not want them afraid of him.

He walks in one morning, goes over to the brooder, looks in and says "Good Morning...soon to be sandwich"

They are 11 weeks old now and they are just beginning to forgive him.

They have stopped sitting down and fluffing all up when he walks over to them.

I have to agree with the freezer. Sorry, Rebbetzin.

I did meat birds last fall and rendered all the fat.

I have NEVER had savory crust as good as that made with the schmaltz!

I even did mahtza ball soup on a cold winter evening - not one drop left in the pot.
