Yeah I had literally no idea about any of it. I thought they were sick when they started with the raspy voices. Had nothing to compare it to because they were both males. Learned so much!

Their man voices are funny. All raspy

I have runners. I have heard that noise many times!!! Your baby is growing up and voices are changing. Don't fret. Completely normal!!!!

It's a male making his mating call The first few times my Runner drake did that I thought it was very strange too. But then I realized he's just fluffing his feathers and calling out to ladies. Totally normal It's just what runner drakes do. I wonder if only Runners have that mating call.

I agree with Lauraduck. I think they need lady friends. They are very social animals and the boys can be quite randy. lol

My boy's voice is low and frog-like. Very distinctive. It's funny when they all riled up -- I can tell them all apart and even guess what they are up to if they are out of eyesight. They communicate just like any other species.
