My Ivy.. Latest Relapse...She's Gone

EVERYONE GO BROODY!!!!!! Whoa, except us humans, of course.

Serrin, Ultrasuede is the lone blue Orp in with 14 Delaware that are all 14.5 weeks old, and the roos are just starting to be a bit rooish. I want him to have ladies of his own because I want to breed Delawares, and probably BBS Orps if I get the hang of all this. ( Where is the smilie with fingernails chewed to nubs when you need it?)

Every hijacks threads in this crowd- I've been known to do it myself.

Mostly because I can never remember what thread I am on.

The others ran Nugget off her nest, but she is clucking and fluffing to beat the band. I think if I put her in the broody pen and remove Shadow, she'll settle down.

Shadow laid a second egg, again with blood streaks, but no prolapse! So, she is back with the main flock and Nugget is in that broody pen with three eggs (testing her to be sure she settles down on them before adding the rest).

Thank you, Debby. That's very sweet. We try our best, but so do you! Most folks try to properly care for their chickens, I think.

Nugget kept leaving the nest, then she'd get back on, on and off and on and off. Tonight when I checked at dusk, she was on the eggs. Hopefully, if she spends the night on them, she'll become settled about her location and be the great broody I know she is.

Come on Nugget! Nothing beats a good broody! Yea, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of winter, we shall fear no power outage, if thou art broody!!!

Well, I'm glad to hear that Shadow is up and about. They say that regaining ones mobility is the first step to a more speedy recovery. Maybe this is just what Shadow needs right now, rather than to lay around and do nothing. As always Cyn, I'm keeping all of your ailing little ladies in my thoughts and prayers.

You certainly deserve a break from all of these emergencies and drama!
