My Ivy.. Latest Relapse...She's Gone

Well, Ivy's color is good today! Felt her abdomen and removing over 5 ounces of infection/fluid certainly made a dint in the problem in there. She is still weak, but moving better and seems much perkier today. I know all it did was make her more comfy, but that's something, anyway.

That is a wonderful thing to give her Cyn. Never underestimate or undervalue the power of your kind and gentle care of your girls. I'm sure Ivy appreciates all that you do, and the lengths you'll go to, just to assure her comfort. In my next life, I want to be one of your hens!

I agree with Serrin...you did good lady. I want to come back as a chicken...so I can live with Suede.

Beth what makes you think those spoiled birds' coops are not as comfy as inside the house? They have fans, spacious living, food, water, nice roosts and goodies delivered....does not sound bad to me.

Just checking up on you and our favorite girls Cyn. How are they today? Any new developments? Improvements? Keeping you and your precious ladies in my thoughts and prayers.

Ivy is still very weak, though her color is still okay. I think we could drain another 156 cc of stuff out of her! Olivia isn't doing well-I heard her choking/throat-clearing much of the night again. She did, however, find the energy to jump on her own sister, Tux, yesterday. Not sure what caused that since I don't believe I've seen them fight their entire three and a half years.

She may be crabby because she doesn't feel good. Hope they are doing OK in this heat- but like Cetawin says, your chicken coops are vacation homes for the rest of us!

I try to keep my coops clean as possible, but now, I need to get the compressor started and blow out the dust again and clean a window that you can hardly see out of. We cut a new ventilation hole in the back wall and covered with hardware cloth so it adds more light, but is out of the rain and sun under the back overhang. Will have to come up with a cover for winter for it, but we have months before that is needed. I think I want another one in the next section of wall as well. This heat is stifling, even with fans going. Coop dust will kill a fan pretty fast!
