You're now officially a member of the Fluffy Butt Hens Club!!!

The circle continues. Little Tira laid her first egg yesterday too. All but put it right in my hand, the little darling!

And didn't seem to mind one little bit that I was in there to witness her first time laying. In fact, I'd say she was rather comforted to have me in there, cooing softly to her and giving her words of encouragement. I probably wasn't nearly as jangling on the nerves as Sonic is when she's announcing the imminent arrival of any of her other sisters eggs!

No Beth, I'm not a world famous published author. [blushing furiously here!] I simply write from the heart. Oh, how I wish I was though. It would really help out with the bills!

Well, Amy, you ought to be- get kicking, girl. We'll all help you think of a plot.

Tiny, you sweetie!! That is a good size first egg! Way to go, little one!

Cynthia, I have just renamed Spot "Ivan the Terrible" in honor of Ivy. I know that sounds weird, but Ivy always had spunk to the end, sticking up for herself and her position as the head; she was someone to respect in your flock, and this little guy is barred and spunky, letting me know what for when I pick him up. And Ivan is as close as I could think of to Ivy. Hope that is OK.

That is very sweet, Beth. I just checked on Ivy and Lexie was laying beside her, their faces actually touching. She knows and she has decided she will be with her until the end. I would take Ivy out and help her along, but I can't take her away from Lexie yet. I hope you don't think bad of me for that, but I just can't.

Cynthia, may the Lord bless the both of them. He made them, and He will care for them after they leave you.

Peace.

Perhaps that is best Cyn. Mother Nature has her own ways, and who are we to disparage them? She's been at this business far longer than any of us.

Were it up to me, I'd let Lexie stay with Ivy just as long as she wants to. Perhaps if the door were left open [if it isn't already?] she could come and go as she pleases.

Even so, I bet she would choose to stay right beside her sister. As with the many times that she probably cheered Ivy on in her egg laying, so now she comforts Ivy in her last hours. Somehow, that is completely fitting and as it should be. It certainly agrees with the romantic side of my mind.

To be sure, she has definitely brought a measure of comfort and tranquility to Ivy so far. Such dear and sweet girls.

I think that picture will stay with me for a long - Lexie with her pretty head touching Ivy- Cynthia, no one can think badly of you in this- there is a communion between those that is of the sacred, and as Amy said, it is completely fitting Lexie be with her to the end, if it is what they both want. There is such a grace and dignity there, I would not disturb it either.

Don't know how I missed that part the first time.

Us? Think badly of you? Oh Cynthia! How could any of us ever think badly of you for choosing to let Lexie and Ivy spend these last moments together? Far, FAR from it dear lady! FAR FROM IT! If only all people could allow such dignity and grace to exist peaceably, this world would be a much better place.

No Cynthia dear! None of us think badly of you for that. In fact, we're all very touched that you would put the needs and desires of your girls above those of your own.
