My leukemia's back.

Phil, I went down what I thought was really slow. I was on 15 mg a day for a good month. Then I dropped to 12.5 every other day for a week, then was on 12.5 for two days, 15 for a day, repeating that. I'd been on that for a week or so when I started flaring again. But, I think it's a combo of the gvh and a regular old cold or whatever, cause Honey woke up all snotty and icky this morning. Anyway, I bumped the prednisone back up to 20 mg a day for 3 days, then I'll go back to 15 and leave it at that for a while. That's my plan anyway, we'll see what the lung guy says to do. I'm hitting the nebulizer and the mucinex also.

11 baby chicks in the incubator! That's got me at almost a 50% hatch rate, and today is the actual hatch day, so things are looking good.

I'm collecting Marans eggs to set next. I still have not once seen that rooster mount a hen, or do any real courting behavior. I've had him about two months, it's spring, I don't know what his problem is. The hens aren't mean to him and I don't see any resistive behaviors at all. We'll see.

I love hatching season!

Babies are good, pollen is aggravating, breathing issues bite it, spouses getting better is good, wind I hate, but Spring is here, and hope raises eternal.  Everyone, allow yourselves a GOOD day.

Well said Sour...I think

Rachael I think you are right about it being a cold too...I would think that much prednisone would still be somewhat effective....I taper way faster...but I know the symptoms if i am going too fast and will adjust....I'll say a prayer for you....us unhealthy people need to stick together....if like to chat more but i never went to sleep last night and I'm running into a wall...I need sleep now...good night....talk later....:frow. Out of 25 eggs that made it to lockdown, I have 21 chicks

. Two bantams, one pure bred Marans, and 18 Camo Eggers.

And yep, I went ahead and set 8 Marans eggs today

.

IDK---went out to check on chicks in the barn, just that little walk, no lifting or bending or anything. Came back in and my pulse was 125 and my O2 sat was down to 90%. Not thrilled with that. I need to have a stern talk with my body. I'm supposed to start work on Friday. Can't call in sick my first day, or spend it hacking and coughing all over the place

.

Too bad I can't make a living hatching chicks!

Good morning Rachel, congrats on the new chicks!

I hope things get easier before Friday. It must be kind of exciting to be going back to work

Is it pollen time there, Rachel?
Maybe you should stay stable on the prednisone until spring is over.

I know it makes sense to blame everything on the transplant, but there might be other factors aggravating the primary issues.
I hate prednisone. it makes me hungry, weird, and crabby. But when I have to be on it, I am glad it is there.

I hope you feel better soon, and that you enjoy your job.

and to our little part of it! Prayers always accepted, thank you.

We're not having pollen issues here yet.

Eggsy, I totally get what you're saying about blaming the transplant. I wish I could separate it from the rest of myself, that would make things so much easier. But it's literally part of me now, so I've just got to try to sort things out as they come up.

I'm so excited about going back to work, but I'm disliking the thought of being compromised, especially on my first day. Guess I'll just drug up and deal with it.

All the baby chicks made it through the night

. I'd left three in the incubator, the three late hatchers. They went out this morning. IIRC that makes 43 chickadees in the barn. Plus all the birds I've got on order, and the eggs I've set--it's a chickie spring for sure

Hows the other hatches going?
