My leukemia's back.

OGM, I'm so happy you're enjoying your new job! Nice to get down to what you're going to be doing, although filling in other positions does give you an appreciation for what they do.....

It's been beautiful here the last few days. Gloomy this morning, not sure if it will burn off or not. I could check a weather forecast, but why ruin the suspense? According to Sugar Monkey's Law of Probability, it either will or it won't, 50/50 chance either way

Down to Medford this afternoon, I have an appointment with a doctor through Disability to review my claim. I'm kind of stressed about it, may treat myself to lunch at a seafood place, to calm the nerves, you know

. Nothing like some good clam chowder to settle one down!

Should have enough eggs to set a batch tonight. Brooder babies still doing well, haven't lost any yet

We have cold weather coming for the weekend, um... correction. We have COLDER weather coming for the weekend. I think snow also... um... more snow. I'm just finishing my egg collection with plans to get eggs set this weekend. Doing an other gender shaped set. Hoping that my stats are as good as they were the last time I kept stats. We'll be running the furnace for the next 3 weeks to keep the house temp more stable for the egglets. Oh the sacrifices we must make in the name of incubation. No lugging wood for the next 3 weeks. No more getting up several times/night to check the stove and load the fire box. But, oh, I'm gonna miss that wood heat that does a nice even slow bake right through me to thaw all the cold spots.

Have central heating - the warmest place in the house is a tiny half bath that has the biggest heat vent. I like to hide in there to bask in the heat - ah feels good !!!

I do see the appeal of centralized heating, but nothing beats backing your backside up to a blazing hot wood stove

So many memories of time spent backed up to the old wood stove as a kid........you are right, there is nothing like that feeling!
I just have a gas fireplace but it's nice to stand in front of for sure.

The gas ones are nice to look at too -- I was so excited when we first looked at this house because the first thing I could see through the window was a fireplace.....then the landlord told us it was inoperable as is but they have been toying with the idea of a gas insert. The central heat keeps the house plenty warm, but I'd sure love to sit in front of the fire on those long, rainy days and nights we have here so hopefully we can revisit the conversation this year.

LMAO - in the building I worked at before we ran a little space heater in the bathroom because there was no venting of the heat into there. It was HEAVEN in there, and my boss and I often joked about moving our desks in there........

You are right about the benefit of filling in -- I'm a bit fan of cross-training because it makes for better, more effective employees all around in situations like this sort of office.

Sugar Monkey should get a job as a weatherman - just as accurate as the ones we have around here now and probably would be much more entertaining in his delivery! Hope all went well in Medford, and the medicinal chowder did the trick

OGM having a job you like is wonderful. Hope you get the dry Sunday & Monday as well
yesss.gif

Well, so far Sunday is still supposed to be dry but Monday is now 50% showers -- I think plan is to get as much done as possible tomorrow while DS and I are home and can help/be the muscle for DH (plus DS is itching to get his hands on some power tools - he wants to help but is not comfortable telling/asking DH and DH wants him to help but assumes he doesn't want to because he doesn't speak up -- so this way I can be the voice for both of those silly men and make things happen, lol) so that Monday when it's just DH and FIL there isn't much heavy lifting to be done.
Today I think DS and I are going to "borrow" some of DH's tools and get busy on our water bucket - bought some poultry water cups for this time around - and maybe even start on the no-waste feeder, though no rush on that since the little ones won't be able to use the feeder for a while yet.

Oh, in other news, got a bit of a surprise while the kids were here visiting -- they let us in on a little secret.......I'm officially a mother-in-law. Turns out those sneaky kids went and got married.....a while ago! It simplified a few things with SIL being able to deal with some of the stuff regarding DD's injury and that ongoing situation as well as the purchase of their house - so they did it "on paper" with the plan of having their wedding as planned, but have since decided it makes more sense to not spend that sort of money on one day when they have a house and lots of other things they want to save for/spend on so kind of had to come out and tell everyone they are married. DH and I are not in much of a position to object considering we did much the same when we got married because he got unexpected orders and in order for DD and I to be put on them in time we needed to be official - in the mean time we were working on altering the orders a bit as they had him reporting on the day before what we had already set as our wedding date In our case we were able to get things moved back and had our wedding as planned, but had it not worked out we'd have been in the same boat as the kids. I worry about them being so young, but beyond that could not be happier for them --- SIL fits so well in our family and it is an absolute joy to welcome him officially. I can't believe my baby girl is a married woman..............
