It is in the oven now and smells wonderful!
Yes, there are a lot of different recipes for Babka--The one NFC has on the bakers thread has filling variations: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/921333/any-home-bakers-here/2910#post_16080263Oops, my goof! Just got a PM from someone wanting to know if that was regular pancake batter and since I don't want anyone to make it and hate it I guess I should say that it isn't.
It's 3/4 cup flour, 3TBSP sugar, 3 room temp eggs, and 3/4 cup room temp milk. Whisk until smooth and just pour over apples in skillet. Sorry if I confused anyone.
@ronott1 that looks good but, um, well, can it be made without chocolate?
Those are my favorite! We call them Dutch Babies. So good and yours look delicious!Phil, you caramelize slices of Granny Smith apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in a cast iron skillet for 5 minutes. Take them out, wipe out the pan, and mix the batter in a bowl. Melt butter in the skillet, put the apples back in, then pour on the batter and bake. German Pancake!
The sides rise up around the middle like a taco salad shell , but not that high of course.![]()
