Hi Conroy! Do you know if the australorps are easy to sex as chicks? Being that I can't have roosters, I'm looking for chicks in the spring...

I don't know if they are easy to sex as chicks but from what I understand that when they are about 12-16 weeks there are noticable differences. I would post this question under the breeds thread. Maybe you will get someone who knows alot more about them. I just bought them 1 month ago. I think they are beautiful as well. Their feathers have a beautiful green sheen to them. I believe it is called beetling. Thanks for posting. I hope I helped.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I'm just shopping around and thought I'd ask you, you never know! I'll definetley (sp?)(I don't know why that word gives me a hard time :mad:) check them out.

So far we love them, they are a lil skiddish but I think that 's cause we have only had them a month.. but they are sweet. The Barred rocks are sweet as well.

Thanks Julie..Henry came in a batch of day olds from MPC he was supposed to be a pullet. Also when we ordered him the breed was Ameracauna but afterwards tehy changed their sight to say Easter Egger. He is a cutie. The black ones are Australorps and the stripey ones are Barred Rocks they are all really sweet birds.
