My little garden helpers! *Pictures*

Very cute pics! My hens love to garden. I spent yesterday working compost into the garden and the hens were right there helping to spread it around and dig it in. All was good till one found a toad and it must have spit something nasty into that hen's mouth because she spent about an hour wiping her beak and shaking her head after dropping it LOL.

That's funny. She won't make that mistake again.

At least your hens wipe their beaks on the ground. Mine walk over and wipe them on ME. Apparently, my soft jeans around the ankles is much preferable to wiping them on the ground.

Haha - Gloria tried that once.... never happened again cause I got mad and said, "NO NO NO, bad chicken!' After giving me a few Gloria eyes, she walked away and started wiping on the other chickens...... Oh Gloria, you never change.

Yuck, your poor hen! She learned her lesson the hard way, I suppose.

You're a chicken hankerchief!

I really like your Hen Gloria! In fact I love all your hens! They are just so dang expressive in pics!

Aw, thanks! All my hens mean so much to me, I can't choose a favorite! Each girl has their own personality:

Gloria: Bossy yet loving to each of the hens (You know whats amazing? She's like a rooster! She will guide them all into the pen when a hawk is soaring in the sky, and will freak out when one disappears! She is at the top of the pecking order, no surprise, and keeps them all in their place.)
Penny: Sweet and quiet (She loves everyone and everything!)]
Nellie: Hyper and jumpy (She runs around the yard in circles chasing after flies and bee's, haha!)
Lucy: Attached and fun (She will fly across the yard at full speed to get to one of the birds, then realize another chicken is at the other side of the yard and will run back... this process will go on for several minutes! She loves to explore and enjoys jumping on my shoulder, legs and back and will lie right down, clucking contently. She hates to be alone and will do anything, even fly over a 5 foot tall fence, to get to her flock!)
